The job holder will have responsibility for providing effective non-technical line management of Trainee ATCOs (Air Traffic Control Officer) from onboarding through to transfer to Unit watch. They will be responsible for the pastoral care and welfare of Trainees throughout their training whilst ensuring the trainees can focus on their learning in a supportive environment. Principle Accountabilities
* Line manage non-technical performance of Trainee ATCOs through Rating and Unit training, providing pastoral and general welfare services through until on watch
* Responsible for the Trainee ATCOs' onboarding and induction activities
* Ensure a visible and active presence, both virtually and physically, in order to establish pastoral relationships with the Trainee ATCOs
* Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely management of Trainee ATCOs of employment
* Responsible for mentoring Trainee ATCOs as well as dealing with more difficult personal situations, providing advice and guidance as appropriate
* Responsible for safeguarding Trainee ATCOs, escalating all concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Person
* Responsible for the handover of Trainee ATCOs onto watch at the Unit
* Maintain accurate regulatory Trainee and Student records and assist with licence application to ensure compliance
* Responsible for providing advice and guidance to the Trainee ATCOs in the event of course/phase failure
Must have previously had demonstrable experience working in a Pastoral, Welfare and Safeguarding role
* Must have prior line management experience, or demonstrable leadership skills and ability
* Must have excellent communication skills both written and oral.
* The ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation internally and externally and handle enquiries and request for support in an efficient and professional manner
* Must have excellent interpersonal, influencing, persuading, facilitation and conflict management skills
* Must have excellent time management, organisational, prioritisation and planning skills
* Must have a high degree of accuracy and awareness in order to maintain the NATS certification to train to applicable regulatory standards
* Must be highly motivated both personally and professionally. With a positive attitude they must be willing to embrace, initiate and support necessary change both within the training environment and within NATS.
* They must be able to deal with problems, providing solutions within the appropriate guidelines
* Awareness of Critical Incident Stress Management and Mental Health first aid would be advantageous.
* Sound knowledge of MS Office
