Job overview
Due to the success of the multi award winning complex nutrition team and the establishment of the first national complex nutrition virtual ward, we have an exciting opportunity for a band 8a clinical nurse specialist or senior dietician position for a 7-day service.
This position would be suited to someone currently in a CNS/senior dietetic role who would like to expand their autonomous specialist practice as the lead of the virtual ward and a key member of the complex nutrition service. The environment is ever-evolving, expanding across medicine and surgery, within a friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team. Essential skills include being eager to learn and expertise in complex nutrition.
Main duties of the job

* Lead on the operational and clinical effectiveness of the complex nutrition virtual ward.
* Provide expert enteral and parenteral nutritional management to all patients within the Dudley Group.
* Expertly assess and manage patients with malabsorption syndromes.
* Be an independent non-medical prescriber.
* Drive patients' progress along agreed nutrition pathways, supported by the assessment and implementation of evidence-based practice.
* Plan, evaluate, and implement care, problem-solve, and ensure that nutritional support is delivered safely, effectively, and appropriately.
* Lead on the implementation of national standards and guidelines relating to nutrition support and virtual wards and evaluate their effectiveness.

Person specification
Education and qualifications
* Registered Nurse Qualification or equivalent.
* Masters level or equivalent study.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Teaching qualification.
* Leadership and management qualification.
Experience
* Post-registration experience at a senior level.
* Extensive experience of parenteral and enteral nutrition.
* Experience in Gastroenterology.
* Experience of workforce development and planning.
* Experience of making clinical decisions.
* Experience of implementation of Mental Capacity Act and protecting vulnerable patients.
Knowledge and skills
* Advanced clinical health assessment.
* Evidence of research and audit.
* Effective skills in delegating, negotiating, facilitating, and teaching.
