Electrical Control Room Operator Annual Salary: £52,084 - £59,015 Location: York, YO26 Job Type: Full-time Day-to-day of the role: Monitor and maintain the electrical supplies across our railway network. Respond to alarms and telephone calls, resolving any faults and failures promptly. Learn to recognise different alarm types and understand their meanings to effectively address new challenges. Work in various shift patterns, including nights, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, contributing to the safety and efficiency of our railway operations. Your Training Matters: Participate in a comprehensive 4-week initial training course at our Control Room in York, followed by 38 weeks of on-the-job training under the guidance of an experienced Electrical Control Room Operator. Complete a final assessment to fully qualify for the role. Required Skills & Qualifications: Experience working with High Voltage systems such as overhead lines, power grids, or industrial units. Comfortable working in high-pressure environments. Excellent communication skills, capable of delivering safety-critical information clearly and concisely. Electrical Engineering qualification or similar is essential. Key non-technical skills include effective communication, willingness to learn, workload management, staying controlled under pressure, working well with others, and problem-solving.
