The Vale of Glamorgan is welcoming applications within its Flying Start Programme. Flying Start is a Welsh Government funded programme and is available in targeted areas supporting all families to give 0-3-year olds a Flying Start in life. The programme aims to provide intensive support services for children and their families.
The focus of the programme is on promoting language, cognitive, social and emotional skills, physical development and the early identification of high needs. This is achieved through the delivery of health support and guidance, parenting groups and support and free part time childcare.
About the role
Pay Details: Grade 6 SCP 14-19 £28,624 - £31,067
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: Monday to Friday – 37 hours per week
Main Place of Work: Barry

Description:
To deliver high quality 1:1 support to families in their homes to children aged 0-5 years who have Additional Learning Needs or complex needs across the Vale of Glamorgan.
Set up and deliver of group-based play sessions for children ages 0-5 years and their parent/carers to support specific needs across the Vale
Delivery of EPAtS parenting programme
About you
You will need:
1. At least two years’ experience of working directly in Family Support including working with children who have a disability and or additional learning need
2. Experience of working within the home environment
3. Experience of facilitating groups to parents and children
4. Knowledge of supporting developmental play for children with disabilities and or Additional Learning Needs
5. Ability to safeguard children and understanding the need to share concerns with relevant professionals where appropriate
6. Ability to use IT software packages confidently and to keep accurate records relating to the care and development of children.
7. Ability to work one to one with parents and children in their home
8. NVQ Level 4/5 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development, NNEB or an equivalent relevant qualification in line with QCF framework for Wales
9. Relevant up-to-date training in a number of areas that support children with disabilities and or Additional Learning Needs
10. Hold a flexible approach to work attitude with an understanding of the varying needs of families
11. Friendly and approachable manner and be able to communicate with a range of professionals and parents.
12. Ability to drive/travel throughout the Vale or between locations as appropriate
