To provide a comprehensive and friendly reception and administrative service to the practice. To provide a first point of contact for all enquiries from patients, health care professionals and other agencies, ensuring that a high quality and professional service is provided at all times.
Responsibilities:
1. Deliver all services to a high standard and in a timely, effective and efficient manner and in accordance with practice policy.
2. Act as first point of contact for day to day enquiries from patients, healthcare professionals and other agencies.
3. Answer telephones, receive faxes and other communications and deal with associated tasks within delegated authority.
4. Maintain, monitor and process patient appointments, dealing effectively with urgent requests and requests for home visits.
5. Register new, temporary, emergency patients and those requiring immediate treatment.
6. Open, date stamp, distribute and scan post; undertake general administrative support such as photocopying, faxing, filing, data entry, and emails.
7. Process patient prescription requests, letters, forms, specimens etc as required, ensuring that they are signed off by the appropriate clinical lead.
8. Process call and recall for appointments and reminders (e.g., HepA, chronic diseases).
9. Process patient information and enter onto the computer system, ensuring day books are up to date.
10. Ensure the safe collection and transportation of specimens in liaison with the Practice Nurse.
11. Open and lock premises and maintain security in accordance with practice policies.
