About The Role
Tribosonics Limited are looking for a Project Engineer Apprentice to join their team. The candidate will assist in the implementation of measurement technologies into customer systems through research, testing, development, manufacture, and implementation of ultrasonic sensors and instrumentation.
Role & Responsibilities
1. Engineering: Manufacture prototypes for visualization as well as test purposes;
2. Carry out machining on milling machine and lathe;
3. Carry out additive manufacturing using available resources;
4. Manage the process of outsourcing more complex machining tasks;
5. Ensure prototypes are of high quality.
Support the production of prototype designs based upon experimentation results;
1. Research other solutions and carefully document findings;
2. Brainstorm and design possible solutions;
3. Sourcing components from bill of materials.
Oversee preparation and finalization of experimental investigations;
1. Read and understand risk assessments;
2. Prepare lab/workshop with correct materials and equipment;
3. Pack away materials and equipment after testing.
Support with experimental investigations;
1. Source materials and equipment from suppliers;
2. Carry out testing;
3. Record data/findings;
4. Take responsibility for testing documentation;
5. Be professional if carrying out work on client sites.
Support the analysis and report on results of experimentation;
1. Carry out data processing;
2. Plot results in suitable formats (Excel);
3. Care taken with data formatting;
4. Assist with the writing of reports;
5. Data and results sufficiently documented and archived so they may be used in the future.
Perform practical work in a safe and controlled manner to ensure both quality of work and the safety of yourself and others;
1. Follow work procedures carefully;
2. Ensure results are both accurate and repeatable;
3. Record results in a clear manner and well documented;
4. Compliance to H&S regulations and Tribosonics practices.
On-site work;
1. Create method statements, risk assessments;
2. Create packing lists and resource sourcing;
3. Support line manager during industrial visits.
Project Management: Manage suppliers to ensure ordered parts are delivered on schedule, to cost, and to specification;
1. Ensure parts are delivered on time;
2. Ensure parts are delivered at agreed price;
3. Ensure parts are to specification;
4. Provide regular updates on progress to line manager;
5. Regular meetings to be agreed with line manager.
General:
1. Ensure that Tribosonics is a healthy and safe working environment;
2. Ensure relevant Risk Assessments are created to enable you to safely carry out your work;
3. Report any Health and Safety issues you notice.
Conduct work for Tribosonics in a professional manner;
1. Appropriate attire for meetings and customer/supplier visits;
2. Professionalism in all communications.
Assist with other tasks as requested, including being responsible for the laboratory or office on a rota basis;
1. Help ensure the lab and office remain safe and clean for the benefit of staff and customers;
2. Organise the shipping of products and components.
Play a role in improving the company;
1. Attendance and contribution to team meetings and discussions.
Minimum Qualifications:
You will need ONE of the following: A minimum of two A-Levels at grade B or above, including a mathematical-based subject and a science, technology, engineering or an additional mathematics-related subject / An Engineering BTEC Level 3 with at least 120 credits at DM (Distinction Merit) level or above / EAL Diploma in an engineering-based subject at distinction level / Equivalent qualifications such as Technical Levels (T-Levels) at DM or above.
About The Training
You will study on a Level 6 Manufacturing Engineer degree apprenticeship on a Maintenance Technology pathway. On completion of this, you will gain a qualification in Engineering at Degree Level 6 standard.
During the first year of the apprenticeship, your learning will take place at the University of Sheffield's AMRC Training Centre based at Catcliffe, Rotherham, for an initial block of study on a full-time basis. After this, you will attend the Training Centre for one day a week for knowledge study.
