Base pay range
We’re looking for a Photonics Engineer to join our client’s team, developing cutting-edge hardware solutions across a range of advanced applications.
Responsibilities:
* Design and develop packaging and integration solutions for photonic integrated circuits (PICs), including system-in-package designs, material selection, and thermal management.
* Prototype and test fibre-optic systems and optoelectronic assemblies.
* Evaluate and select photonic components (lasers, splitters, photodiodes, fibre cables), considering performance, material properties, and supply chain factors.
* Support PIC wafer runs throughout design, manufacturing, packaging, and testing phases.
* Develop and execute test plans for photonic components and optoelectronic devices, analysing data and refining designs.
Requirements:
* 5+ years’ experience in photonics, with expertise in designing or characterising photonic/optoelectronic devices in industry or academia.
* Strong knowledge of photonics, fibre optics, PICs, packaging, and material properties.
* Degree (BSc, MSc, PhD) in Photonics, Optoelectronics, Physics, or a related field.
Preferred Skills:
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive approach.
* Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail.
* Expertise in device characterisation, packaging, or semiconductor materials.
