We are looking for a self-motivated person with a proactive work ethos who is great at communicating and multi-tasking and has a solid understanding of the needs of the course and the students. You will be part of the technical team in Fashion, supporting all aspects of pattern cutting and garment manufacturing, and safe studio practice across the learning environment. This will include maintaining studios and specialist equipment, ordering & selling stock, first line maintenance and assisting other technical staff in their duties.
A good knowledge of IT is essential, such as Microsoft Office (Word & Excel), and Outlook and ideally commonly used fashion software titles such as Clo3D. Previous experience in supporting and maintaining Health & Safety safe working practices is also essential.
We are looking to appoint a Fashion Learning Support Specialist with extensive experience in industry-standard garment technology, including the range of technical skills that contribute to the cut and construction of a broad range of garment types and styles, and the proficiency required to operate, and maintain, industrial sewing machinery and equipment, such as automated lockstitch, overlocker, cover-stitch, buttonholer, vacuum press, digital embroiderer, blind hemmer, and sonic bonder. As such, the successful candidate will have a relevant qualification in a fashion design and making related discipline, and/or significant industry experience in garment technology or a related field.
As well as assisting in the smooth running of the day-to-day service, you will also support public performances such as End of Year shows. You will also be required to work closely and proactively with Learning Support colleagues in the wider School teams to provide an integrated service.
