Matthew Arnold is an oversubscribed, inclusive 11-18 school with over 1,300 pupils offering GCSE’s and A Level courses, serving both urban and rural communities across west Oxford. The school prides itself on high achievement and improving outcomes, particularly for disadvantaged students.
We maintain a friendly, collaborative environment where teachers support each other. As part of the Acer Trust, there are opportunities for cross-school professional development. Our induction programme offers strong support to Early Career Teachers (ECTs).
What we are looking for
We will consider applications for those with a background in Mathematics and or Computer Science or those wanting to teach only Maths or Computing. We are very flexible to offer this as a part-time or full-time opportunity.
Introduction
This should be read with the current School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document, which applies to the post holder. The duties will be performed under the reasonable direction of the Headteacher, with attention to workload and support. The will be reviewed annually through the Performance Development process.
General Duties
Teachers are expected to carry out the professional duties as per the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.
Teaching Duties
• Teach across the full age and ability range from KS3 to KS5
• Responsibility for a tutor group
• Set high expectations to inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils
• Promote good progress and outcomes by pupils
• Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge
• Plan and teach well-structured lessons
• Adapt teaching to the strengths and needs of all pupils
• Make productive use of assessment
• Manage behaviour effectively
• Fulfil wider professional responsibilities
• Teaching Mathematics and Computing across the age and ability range from KS3 to A Level.
• Contribute to departmental schemes of work and resources.
• Support extra-curricular initiatives and events to promote Mathematics and Computing within the school and external partnerships (e.g. OCL and Acer Trust).
