Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Key Responsibilities: Supporting Teaching and Learning: Plan and deliver lessons to small groups or individual students, under the guidance of a teacher. Support pupils across the curriculum, including with their literacy, numeracy, and personal development. Provide feedback to teachers on pupil progress, identifying areas of concern. Lead whole-class lessons during the teacher’s absence, following agreed plans. Assist in the preparation of learning materials and resources. Student Support: Work with students with special educational needs (SEN), helping to adapt learning materials and differentiate instruction. Provide targeted support for students with behaviour or learning difficulties. Foster positive relationships with students to encourage academic success and personal development. Skills and Qualifications: Education: Level 3 or higher teaching assistant qualification (HLTA Status), or equivalent experience. Experience: Previous experience in a similar role (as a Teaching Assistant or HLTA) is often required. Knowledge: Strong understanding of the primary or secondary curriculum, knowledge of SEN support, and effective teaching strategies. Working Hours: Usually term-time only, with working hours typically during school hours (e.g., 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM). Occasional after-school meetings may be required. Reporting to: Class Teacher, SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), or School Leadership Team.
