HIV Nurse - Barnsley Integrated Sexual Health
The post holder will practice as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide high quality care for people living with HIV (PLWHIV) under the care of Barnsley HIV Service. This care will be delivered as directed by the HIV medical team.
The post holder will:
1. Offer support and care coordination to clients, their relatives, partners and carers.
2. Undertake patient related care under the direction of the HIV medical team.
3. Work with the wider MDT to manage lost to follow-up patients and deliver a model that allows safe monitoring and management of patients to allow them to safely re-access care within Barnsley HIV Clinic Services.
4. Provide regular reporting on service activity as required and requested.
5. Participate in audit.
6. Attend regular clinical review meetings of complex patients.
The post holder might be required to work across Barnsley and local areas at any time throughout the duration of their contract. This may entail travel and working at different hospital sites for meetings or occasional patient care.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the multi-disciplinary team in the provision of an effective and safe service for the assessment, treatment, monitoring and education of people living with HIV. This nursing care will be evidence-based and take into consideration the lifestyle, gender, sexual orientation and cultural background of the client group.

Person Specification
* Registered Adult Nurse
* Post-Graduate or equivalent experience/portfolio evidence
* Demonstrates a clear understanding of confidentiality
* A good understanding of the National and International HIV Agenda
* Computer literate, able to use Electronic Patient Records and type effectively.
* Ability to work autonomously
* Ability to recognise own limitations within own scope of professional practice.
* Has effective communication and interpersonal skills
* Able to demonstrate an enthusiasm for HIV Nursing Care.
* Specialist accredited training for: Sexually Transmitted Infection Management, Contraception Management, Sub Dermal Implant Fitter, Intrauterine Device/System Fitter (Any contraception delivery will be related to HIV+ Females only)
* An understanding of the National Sexual Health Agenda
* Experience of working in HV outpatient clinics
* Experience of working/contributing in an MDT
* Use of PGDs
* Experience in contacting and discussing test results with patients, including delivery of "bad news".
