Our NHS 111 Call Handlers (Health Advisors) are individuals from various backgrounds who share a common goal: helping others.
You will be the first person our patients speak to when they call 111, whether they require urgent assistance or simply need advice.
The 111 service handles a vast array of calls, ensuring that no two days are ever the same.

Main duties of the job
The role of a SECAmb Call Handler
As a call handler, you will assist callers in various situations, from minor illnesses to life-threatening emergencies. Your assistance will range from providing lifesaving advice while an ambulance is en route to guiding callers to more appropriate services.
This role is demanding and challenging but also rewarding. Applicants must possess the skills to handle stressful situations while demonstrating compassion and empathy.
As a 24/7 service, this role requires working varied shifts, including weekends. We will work with you to create a rota that balances work and life.
Note: You must work 3 out of 4 weekends, even for part-time positions.

Training Provided
We provide full training in a supportive environment in our NHS 111 Call Centre.
* Training is full-time (even for part-time applicants)
* Must attend policy; no annual leave is permitted during training
* Includes classroom, observing, and mentoring periods

Successful applicants will demonstrate commitment to delivering a patient-focused service.
We seek individuals with the drive and passion to make a difference, capable of working under pressure.
Candidates must work well in teams and independently, possess fast/accurate typing skills, and have a good standard of education. GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) at Grade C or above is required.

Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE or Functional Skills in Maths, English, and ICT Skills
* Experience with NHSP Pathways or other medical triage systems
Experience
* Experience in public communication
* Ability to build rapport with diverse individuals
* Experience in a computer-based role with strong IT skills
* Teamwork experience across various settings
