The BBC Flexi Job Apprentice Agency (FJAA) is offering an exciting opportunity to be a Level 3 Production Apprentice.
The production apprenticeship helps you gain experience in the exciting world of media production. You’ll learn on-the-job, developing your knowledge and skills while working towards your production apprenticeship qualification with our learning provider Bauer Academy.
Ricochet is a leading UK-based television production company renowned for creating innovative, high-quality factual and entertainment programming. It produces popular shows across a variety of genres and is behind hit series like The Repair Shop, Food Unwrapped, and Cowboy Builders.
In this role, you will be working primarily on The Repair Shop, the BBC’s long-running primetime television show where experts restore items that hold sentimental value for families at their workshop in West Sussex.
At Ricochet you will learn from leading television professionals both in the office and out on location. You’ll develop an understanding of what goes into making broadcast television and the creative stages that occur throughout the process.
This is an exciting first step into the editorial side of programme making, giving tools for future careers in fields such as Runner, Junior Researcher, Broadcast Assistant, Content and Edit Producer, Junior Production Coordinator, or Technical Operator.
Through the BBC’s Flexi-Job Apprenticeship Agency, you will be hired by the BBC and be placed with Ricochet for the duration of your apprenticeship. The BBC will work with Ricochet and Bauer Academy to oversee your successful completion of the apprenticeship.
An apprenticeship requires full commitment and discipline from the learner. Alongside experiences and training, there is an expectation of wider self-learning and the requirement to meet learning objectives and deadlines, as outlined by the apprentice standards.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
What will you be doing on the apprenticeship?
* Communication and coordination: Answer calls/emails, manage correspondence, greet visitors, and coordinate logistics for travel, couriers, and deliveries.
* Production support: Assist crew and experts on location, handle petty cash, book meeting rooms, and maintain equipment/kit, source props, and contribute to ideas and research.
* Content management: Log rushes, transcribe, time-code scripts, manage post-production paperwork, downloading and filling production stills.
* Administrative tasks: Prepare documents (call sheets, risk assessments, etc.), manage post-production paperwork, scan forms, and distribute newsletters.
* General office duties: Typing, filing, photocopying, and organising.

To be eligible for an apprenticeship at the BBC, you must:
* Be aged 18 or over when the apprenticeship starts in April 2025.
* Live within a commutable distance of central Brighton.
* By the start of the apprenticeship in April 2025, have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for a minimum of 3 years.
* Be eligible to work in the UK full-time for the duration of the apprenticeship contract.
* Not currently taking part in an apprenticeship scheme supported by the BBC or another organisation.
To apply for this scheme, you must also:
* Not have completed or hold qualifications in the apprenticeship subject at the same or higher level.
* Be available for the in-person assessment which will take place on Monday 24 March 2025 at Ricochet’s office in Brighton.
* Be able to start on Tuesday 22nd April 2025.
