Here is an outline description of C. · C is described as a sweet natured, captivating and humorous man, described as a 'top bloke' He will seek to have a laugh and a joke with familiar people and loves to make other people hot drinks as a practical way to engage with others. · He speaks with a strong Somerset accent symbolising his roots in the area. · C has a lot of happy memories from previous community placements and will tell these stories to familiar people. · C's diagnosis is Bi-polar disorder with Psychosis. Most recently professionals have highlighted the need for more support surrounding his ADHD diagnosis. · C requires support with prompting with personal care, support with shopping, cleaning his property and coordinating his daily activities, following the principles of 'Just enough support'. · To best connect with C regarding his Autistic thinking, each staff member will need to have a specific role or purpose for him to fully engage and connect. · He has been described as functional in his engagement compared to reciprocal meaning he will often only engage with staff when he has a need. · C's speech pattern is described as 'chaotic' he will insert words within his sentences that seem to have little meaning to the overall conversation. · Reflective listening will be a required skill of any staff that is engaging with C. · C struggles with interruption and does not like to be asked directed questions as he can easily lose his train of thought. · C is mostly functional in his speech and conversation; he will need staff who are patient and willing to work within his communication styles. The slow introduction of staff in a transition period will provide a purpose for C to develop relationships and allow for his team to learn his communication styles and how best to engage with him.
