Job Description:
This is a tremendous opportunity for recent grads looking to enter and build a career in M&A execution, deal making, or integration giving ample exposure to full cycle activities.
The M&A Analyst will support the company’s strategic growth initiatives through M&A, and partnerships. This position involves financial analysis, market research, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to evaluate potential acquisition targets and facilitate successful transactions.
Your primary focus will be to enable our M&A business development team through targeted research into software companies operating in our target industry verticals with a global geographical scope working directly with the VP of Corporate Development based in Toronto, Canada.
Core responsibilities:
1. Market Research:
1. Conduct industry and market research to identify potential targets and assess competitive landscapes.
2. Engage with portfolio business leaders to understand competition and adjacencies.
3. Create market maps at the software product and/or application level.
4. Report on industry trends and market dynamics to support thesis generation for target companies.
2. Business Development:
1. Work with M&A business development team to prioritize activities that align with our acquisition strategy.
2. Support tracking and reporting of engagement activities.
Progression:
In time the analyst is expected to become involved in the broader M&A corporate development and/or execution activities including:
1. Financial Analysis and Modeling:
1. Conduct financial modeling and valuation analyses (e.g., DCF, comparable companies, precedent transactions).
2. Analyze financial statements and assess the financial health of potential acquisition targets.
3. Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors (e.g., legal, accounting) throughout the due diligence process.
2. Corporate Development:
1. Engage CEO’s and other relevant stakeholders to qualify potential acquisition targets and help progress these through the M&A deal cycle.
2. Assist in evaluation of post-merger integration plans to ensure successful integration.
3. Monitor financial performance and thesis realization post-transaction.
Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative technical field (Commerce, Finance, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science).
* High degree of emotional intelligence with excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
* Interest in M&A, private equity, and investing.
* Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques.
* Knowledge of the industries relevant to the company’s core verticals.
