A leading provider of engineering services to heavy industry, including Energy, Refinery, Aggregate, and utilities, is looking for a Mechanical Engineer. Working at the head office in the Brentwood area, as well as covering an array of sites across the UK. If you have experience within heavy engineering sectors, good rotating equipment knowledge, and hands-on skills, then we want to hear from you.
Duties:
1. Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on rotating equipment, including large turbines and a range of pumps.
2. Conduct maintenance on auxiliary and balance of plant (BOP) equipment.
3. Utilize measuring equipment such as micrometers and alignment tooling.
4. Complete workshop and field service activities, including detailed reports on findings, condition assessments, and recommendations.
5. Diagnose mechanical equipment issues within the heavy engineering sectors.
6. Conduct fault finding activities, defect repairs, and routine maintenance on commercial and heavy industry machinery.
7. Assist and lead planned projects and outages as required.
8. Manage work schedules efficiently.
Experience required:
1. Mechanical qualifications, such as ONC & HNC, NVQ, or equivalent, are essential.
2. Proven experience in fault finding, repair, installation, and commissioning.
3. Strong customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
4. Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team.
5. A full, preferably clean, driving license is essential.
6. Ability to pass security clearances.
7. Relevant knowledge, training, and experience in heavy engineering sectors are critical.
8. Experience in the power sector, particularly with prime movers and BOP, is preferable.
9. OEM pump or turbine experience and a strong background in rotating equipment.
10. Strong technical abilities, including measuring and reporting skills.
11. Physical fitness with a flexible and positive outlook.
12. Available for callouts on a 1 in 5 basis.
13. A willingness to work away from home when necessary.
Benefits:
1. Salary: £34,000 to £47,000 depending on experience.
