Our recent Ofsted inspection praised Leicestershire's work to build "strong and long-lasting relationships" with children and families which lead to many families achieving "positive changes" in their lives. They highlighted an "ambitious and child-focused senior leadership that has successfully created a culture where the experiences and progress of children are at the heart of social work practice".
About the Role
A support worker is a vital role for the children in care and families we work with. Young people and children need to maintain the family time they have not only with family but the networks important to them. Sometimes this will need arranging and supervising and this is where you come in! Enabling such an important event for a child and their family is critical. You will also work as a part of a group of support workers to ensure you can learn and share skills in working with families, and understanding behaviours and potential issues. You will be well supported within the service to develop your own practice. We are looking for the following:
* An understanding of child development
* An ability to develop relationships with children and families.
* Experience working with children and their families
* An ability to raise concerns where they may arise
* To be a part of a team
* An ability to drive distances
* To be able to work Saturdays and afternoons to meet the needs of the service.
A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
About You

* Knowledge of safeguarding, child care legislation and social work practice.
* An understanding of Trauma informed practice
* Ability to communicate clearly, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to manage your time and prioritise tasks, with the ability to respond flexibly to changing requirements.
You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion.
