An exciting 12 months fixed term opportunity has arisen within Health and Justice Services for a qualified Speech and Language Therapist to provide maternity cover into the Secure Outreach Transitions Team. Fixed term post may be extended if funding becomes available.
The post holder will be part of a dynamic SLT service in Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust, with well defined peer support, supervision systems and CPD opportunities.
The post holder will have some experience working with service users in mental health or learning disabilities and experience of working with people in forensic services would be desirable.
This post will be based with the Secure Outreach Transitions Team at Roseberry Park Hospital in Middlesbrough.
You will be expected to work Monday - Friday. Flexible hours will be considered. The post will commence as soon as possible with a period of induction and training.
The post will be subject to Police/Prison vetting.

Main duties of the job
Working with the multi-disciplinary team supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism with a forensic history. The SLT will complete communication assessments and provide therapy as well as advising on communication reasonable adjustments.

Job responsibilities
Applicants must ensure that prior to applying they have agreement from their current line manager that they can be released on a secondment basis. In the event that permanent funding is secured for this post, the successful applicant will be confirmed in post on a permanent basis.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Appropriate professional qualification in speech and language therapy role
* Current relevant registration with HCPC
* International English Language Testing System (IELTS) level 8 for international recruits
* Postgraduate training in relevant specialist area
Experience
* Experience of working in a variety of practice areas whilst on student placements or postgraduate
* Experience of supporting people with mental health issues, learning disabilities, or autism
* Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
Knowledge
* Awareness of professional standards and their application to practice
* Understanding of the needs of service users with mental health conditions and/or learning disabilities
* Clinical risk assessment and application in practice
* Knowledge of evidence-based practice in designated specialist area
