Job Description:
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern is Monday-Friday 09.00-17.00/ 4.30pm on a Wednesday (37 hours) with participation in public holidays and weekend working.
We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive individual to join our friendly and supportive pharmacy team in the delivery of clinical pharmacy services to a variety of clinical areas throughout Gartnavel General Hospital site.
You will:
* Ensure the safe and effective supply of medicines to patients, coordinate and manage ward top-up services, and be responsible for recycling & redistributing non-stock medicines that have been ordered for patients, helping to ensure that missed doses are avoided.
* Reduce drug expenditure and potential subsequent waste.
* Dispense medicines for patients being discharged from hospital and support nursing staff with good housekeeping of medicines.
* Be an integral member of the pharmacy team and work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team within the arthroplasty service including nurses, medical staff, pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians.
Requirements:
* You must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
* Be able to organise and prioritise your own workload and the workload of others.
* A proficient level of general education at National 5/standard Grade level or above is essential.
* An SVQ/NVQ Level 2 pharmacy qualification or demonstrable training to equivalent level or working towards this.
* Proficient IT skills including typing and knowledge of Microsoft office packages (Word, Excel), and email systems (Outlook) are essential.
* Experience in using a stock control system is desirable.
* Previous experience in healthcare/pharmacy or customer-facing role is desirable; however, full training will be provided.
