Ground Maintenance Contract Manager
Hours: Full-time (40hrs/week) + Overtime
Salary: Competitive based on experience
Job Description
Overview:
The Grounds Maintenance Contracts Manager will oversee all aspects of grounds maintenance operations across multiple sites. This role involves ensuring the efficient delivery of services such as grass cutting, hedge trimming, tree cutting, weed control, and related activities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing contracts, supervising teams, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and maintaining high standards of quality across all projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Contract Management:
o Oversee and manage grounds maintenance contracts, ensuring services are delivered on time, within budget, and to the agreed quality standards.
o Liaise with clients to ensure satisfaction and address any issues or concerns promptly.
o Prepare and review service level agreements (SLAs) and performance metrics.
o Supervise grounds maintenance teams, contractors, and subcontractors.
o Coordinate schedules, allocate resources, and manage workloads to ensure efficiency.
o Conduct performance reviews and provide training as needed.
3. Operations Oversight:
o Plan and implement maintenance schedules for grass cutting, hedge trimming, tree pruning, weed control, and other services.
o Inspect work sites regularly to ensure quality standards are met.
o Monitor the use of equipment and materials, ensuring proper care and adherence to safety regulations.
o Prepare budgets, monitor expenses, and manage procurement of materials and equipment.
o Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.
5. Compliance and Safety:
o Ensure all operations comply with health and safety regulations.
o Maintain accurate records of risk assessments, incident reports, and safety audits.
o Promote a culture of safety within the team.
6. Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
o Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and suppliers.
o Provide regular updates and reports to clients on project progress and outcomes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
• Proven experience in managing grounds maintenance contracts or similar roles.
• Proven experience with NEC or similar contracts.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Excellent communication and client management skills.
• Knowledge of grounds maintenance practices, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, tree care, and weed control.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations and procedures.
• Budget management and financial acumen.
• Proficiency in scheduling and resource allocation.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Certification in horticulture, landscape management, or a related field.
• Experience with contract negotiation and SLA management.
• Familiarity with relevant software for scheduling and reporting.
• HNC/HND/Degree/NVQ in relevant field.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
