The Cardiology Nurse Specialist team at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals are seeking to recruit a highly motivated, experienced Cardiology nurse to join our friendly team.
The post is for 37.5 hours per week worked on a shift basis over 7 days. Experience working in cardiology is essential.
The CNS Team work independently within the Trust and are responsible for assessing and managing patients who have suspected/confirmed Acute Coronary Syndromes, whilst also providing advice and guidance on all aspects of Cardiology to the wider hospital, supported by the Cardiology Medical Team.
The successful candidate will work closely with ED, AAU, CCU and the Cardiology ward and be expected to regularly liaise with the wider multi-disciplinary teams.
The team also provide a Nurse led cardioversion service and Nurse led Rapid Access Angina clinics.
The successful candidate will need to have excellent communication and organisational skills, the ability to prioritise their workload and adapt to an ever-changing environment and be able to work well under pressure whilst maintaining a high standard of care.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role include:
1. Independently assessing, diagnosing and treating, where appropriate, patients presenting acutely to the Trust with chest pain.
2. Acting as a resource for the wider trust teams to access for advice.
3. Liaising with the wider Cardiology and Multi Disciplinary Team regarding best practice for the patients in your care.
4. Contributing to various meetings as appropriate.
5. Providing an independent Nurse Led Rapid Access Angina Clinic.
6. Providing an Independent Nurse Led Cardioversion Service.
7. Responsible for maintaining up to date knowledge in Cardiology.
8. Completing National Audit data for submission.

Job responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
1. Will have continuous delegated responsibility for a caseload of patients and will provide an effective and patient-focused service which is considerate on needs of users and providers.
2. Organises, prioritises and evaluates workload based on accepted referral criteria and discharge criteria in line with operational protocols.

8. Promote programmes of health education and health promotion relevant to service.
9. Work within national policy frameworks relevant to the service and trust local guidance.
10. Review, interpret and act upon diagnostic investigations and point of care testing which may effect, change to individual care plans, liaising with appropriate medical staff where necessary.
11. Deal effectively and professionally with patient / service user issues collaborating with PALS as appropriate and take a proactive approach to resolving issues and learning from complaints and escalate when unable to resolve.
12. To maintain accurate appropriate and concise patient records within agreed databases and electronic systems.
13. Contribute to the multi-professional approach in the management of patients / carers within the specialist area in relation to ongoing care needs.
14. Act as a resource for specialist knowledge for clinical staff on wards / departments.
15. Ensure effective multi-disciplinary communication.
16. Support the management function of the department by provision of reports and information as required.
17. Provide mentorship and preceptorship as required to junior staff in the team or students on placement.
18. Ensure you work within an agreed divisional work plan.
