An exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Therapy Assistant in our Acute Elderly Unit (AEU) at Queen's Hospital in Romford, Essex. The Team works closely with the larger Multidisciplinary Team including Geriatricians to care for acutely unwell elderly patients attending the hospital and through collaborative decision making with our colleagues we facilitate safe and rapid discharge from hospital. We are based in Mandarin B, Clementine A and Clementine B ward in Queen's Hospital. As a Therapy Assistant in this large and busy team you will be required to communicate well and be confident to work within guidelines and protocols. You will be working under the guidance of physiotherapists and occupational therapists within the team, following direct instructions. Often, you will also need to work independently and report back your findings. Experience of working in healthcare at Band 3 or above is required. Main duties of the job
1. To provide skilled routine, and non-routine, clinical and technical support to the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy team and clerical staff associated with the team.
2. To accept patients allocated by the Therapists, assess and treat according to protocols and guidelines. To monitor patient progression and make alterations to intervention as required.
Person Specification
Education/ Qualifications
* Educated to G.C.S.E. level or equivalent
* Evidence of recent training and CPD
Skills/ Abilities
* Computer and clerical skills
* Ability to work on own initiative and manage own caseload.
Experience/ Knowledge
* Previous experience working as a Band 3 therapy assistant or health care assistant within the acute setting
* Experience of supervising and organising more junior assistants
* Experience working in Acute Elderly Unit

Salary: £31,081 to £33,665 a year inclusive.
