We are recruiting for a Head Housekeeper to join our team at Thames House in Littlemore, Oxford. Thames House is a 26 bedded low secure female forensic unit that provides ongoing care for women in conditions of low security. Many of our service users have had experience of the criminal justice system in the past.
You'll oversee our housekeeping and catering service on the ward, managing a team of four staff. You'll support them in ensuring we provide a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
If you have a proven track record of being able to deliver high-quality cleaning and enjoy working as part of a team, with supervisor experience then this could be the role for you and we want to hear from you!
This role requires shift working including 7am-3pm shifts, 11am-7pm shifts and every other weekend. Enhanced rates are paid for weekend work.
Main duties of the job
* Manage porters and cleaners and ensure that all service standards are met and maintained.
* Carry out a localised induction with all new joiners and annual appraisals and monthly supervisions for managed staff.
* Responsible for authorising annual leave and recording and managing sickness levels.
* Ensure managed staff are aware of any policies and procedures required to complete their tasks.
* Support line manager with rotas and cleaning schedules.
* Responsible for managing stock levels for cleaning consumables, linen and food stock levels and highlighting shortages to line manager to order.

Education
* NVQ level 3 relevant certificate or relevant experience.
Experience
* Experience of moving & handling activities.
* Basic Cleaning Skills.
* Some knowledge of cleaning chemical/materials.
* Supervision /management experience in a small team.
* IT Literate.
* Previous experience of supervising staff.
* Experience of working in a mental health care setting.
Skills
* Ability to work by themselves as well as being part of a team.
