We have an exciting opportunity for an EAL Teaching Assistant with the passion and commitment to join this high achieving, friendly and successful staff team. Ricards Lodge High School is an outstanding, successful and vibrant multi-cultural comprehensive school for girls with a co-educational Sixth Form. The roles includes:
1. To complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities under an agreed system of supervision. This may involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals/groups or short term for whole classes and monitoring pupils and assessing, recording and reporting on pupils achievement, progress and development.
2. To work with low ability groups of EAL students in order to promote their inclusion and to provide support for teaching and personalised learning.
3. Assess the needs of pupils with English as an additional language and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support pupils’ learning.
4. Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
5. Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
6. Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom.
7. Support pupils consistently whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs.
8. Encourage pupils to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage all pupils in activities.
9. Promote independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance.
10. Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement.
