Shaw healthcare is looking for a Nurse to join the team in Maes-y-Dderwen, Tredegar. You will join a team that is fully committed to making a difference in the lives of those we provide care for. Our aim is to deliver the highest standard of care to our service users, providing the same standard of care that we would expect for our own family members. You will be using the latest care technology that enables you to spend more time with the service users you care for.
About the service:
The aim at Maes-Y-Dderwen is to meet the individual needs of every resident. We use a person-centred approach to care, focusing on the strengths of the service users rather than pathology. Within the home, there is a strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship between service users and care staff.
We recognise that service users, despite suffering from mental illness, have the capacity to learn, grow, change, and enjoy their lives. All of them are supported to integrate fully with the local community and take advantage of its social, educational, and recreational opportunities.
As a Nurse, your key duties include:
1. Ensure the highest possible standards of care, assessing residents' needs and developing services to enhance their quality of life.
2. Champion appropriate independence and personal choice; developing, reviewing, and updating care plans to meet residents’ needs.
3. Oversee all aspects of medicine management on your shift – ensuring medicines are appropriately received, stored, and administered.
4. Build the positive reputation of the business; liaise professionally with visitors and external stakeholders.
5. Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and best practice guidelines.
6. Support, guide, teach, and mentor others in line with the NMC Code.
The following skills and experience would be preferred and beneficial for the role:
1. The ability to lead a team, analyse problems, and propose solutions.
2. Able to communicate effectively and develop professional relationships.
3. Understands and effectively uses IT and communication systems required for the role.
4. Respectful of the values, views, and needs of others.
5. Able to work under pressure and prioritise workload.
6. Experience of delivering nursing care within a mental health care setting.
7. Experience of participating in quality and clinical governance programmes.

Salary: £20.60 per hour
Working Hours: as and when required - Shift times are 07:45-20:15 or 20:00-08:00
