About the role
The Univeristy of Plymouth is looking to appoint a Senior Technician to provide technical expertise for projects within the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences (SoGEES). The successful candidate will have experience working within the fields of earth observation, epidemiology and/or environmental monitoring, with a proven ability to contribute to all stages of data analysis; from experimental design to the preparation of explanatory graphics. They should also be able to demonstrate an ability to support staff and students in the use of two or more of the following: Python; Javascript; R; MatLab; Google Earth Engine.
Desirable criteria include the following:
• Experience in one or more of the following fields: large language model/ multi modal prompt engineering; big data analysis; development of digital simulations incorporating real-time sensor data;
• Experience in the use of unmanned aerial vehicle(s) for photogrammetric data capture;
• Internet of things monitoring systems;
• Experience in the use geospatial software or 3D model building using Unity or Blender.

This is a permanent position working 37 hours per week.
