Job Title: R&D Technician Location: Norwich, UK Overview: We are looking for a versatile Research and Development (R&D) Technician to support our global engineering functions. Your primary responsibility will be to test and characterise capacitors and other electronic components, aiding our R&D, New Product Introduction (NPI), and Manufacturing teams. You will be part of the R&D Department at the R&D Center located in Norwich. This facility plays a crucial role in providing R&D and NPI support for multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC), various capacitor types, and electronic components in collaboration with KPD's global manufacturing sites. In this role, you will provide technical support to the Engineering team on R&D projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, particularly the IATF16949 automotive standard. Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the R&D Project Manager. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate closely with global R&D and NPI Engineering teams. Perform assembly and testing following written procedures and global standards, including capacitance, insulation resistance, voltage proof, ESR, life testing (including HALT), humidity testing (including HAST), bend testing, and Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA) on sample sections. Conduct some high-voltage work in a controlled environment, with all necessary PPE and training provided. Engage in R&D efforts focusing on new testing methods and processes. Conduct failure analysis and provide detailed reports on your findings. Meet project deadlines and deliver tasks in accordance with agreed schedules. Develop and write procedures and work instructions. Contribute technically to R&D and NPI projects. Assist in the development and enhancement of processes. Provide training to team members as needed. Undertake additional duties as reasonably assigned. Qualifications and Skills: Proficient in Mathematics and English. A background in science or engineering is advantageous. Familiarity with laboratory and electronic testing equipment is a plus. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently while being professional and collaborative. Exceptional attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in MS Office tools, particularly Excel (extensive usage), Word, Outlook, and OneNote.
