We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health team at HMP Rye Hill, a category B Prison located in Rugby.
HMP Rye Hill has a capacity of 660 males aged 18 and over. The Mental Health team consists of a mental health clinical lead, 4 mental health nurses, a psychologist, a psychiatrist, a mental health prescriber, and an assistant psychologist.

This is a permanent role based on 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Sunday, 8 am - 6 pm covering various shifts.
Salary: This position is full-time, and you'll receive an annual salary between £36,000 - £42,000 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As a Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will:
* Work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options.
* Undertake medication rounds and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed.
* Assess patients' health needs using an evidence-based framework and be able to risk assess using sound clinical knowledge.
* Work with individuals providing advice, support, and information and manage a caseload of patients.
* Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference.
* Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects, liaising with prescribers as required.
* Inspire excellence by forging strong links with our partners and stakeholders.
* Promote best practice, clinical supervision, and evidence-based care.
* Share knowledge, skills, and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi-disciplinary teams and supporting each other to do a great job.

Qualifications required:
* Qualified Mental Health Nurse - NMC registration.
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
* Experience of working with patients face-to-face who have complex mental health conditions.
* Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work, and awareness of substance misuse.
Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community, or prison environment.
