Derbyshire is home to nearly 800,000 residents, encompasses the oldest and one of the busiest national parks in the country. Our county supports thriving businesses small and large across, from historic industry to those at the forefront of technology and an active tourism sector. At the heart of this is a County Council that supports communities and neighbourhoods, delivering excellent services and enabling individuals and businesses to thrive. Our Council is modernising and embracing new technologies and digital opportunities to Simplify, Digitise and Grow, ensuring we continue to deliver great outcomes whilst adapting to the continued pressures and challenges ahead of us.
To achieve our vision, we have completely transformed our digital and technology approach, led by our Director of Digital, who will lead the delivery of our Digital Strategy, enabling us to implement new technology, improve system integration, make data driven decisions and innovate at scale.
Our new Target Operating Model defines how digital, technology and data will shape how services are delivered, and how we operate as a council, achieving value for money whilst keeping our core values at heart to enable local people and places to thrive. Our new Director will have a transformative approach, championing how we use digital, data and technology across the Council, advocating our vision to colleagues, partners and Members to develop buy-in and support at all levels. Our journey is also one of culture change, ensuring that the potential of the technologies we are implementing are realised, connecting vision with the daily operating environment, whilst ensuring our digital and technology offer evolves to meet modern standards. You will take strategic ownership of ICT, technology and data systems, providing assurance for security and privacy, with clear governance and oversight, and being a key adviser to senior officers and Members.
With a track record of effective leadership of transformation and a wealth of experience in a similar role, you will understand the complexity of our operating environment from having worked within either the public or private sectors. We are seeking someone with a clear understanding of technology and modern applications, who can take our organisation on a transformative journey. Crucially, you will demonstrate how you will operate within a complex corporate and political setting, with an understanding of the importance of strong governance, and oversight of digital and data security.
This is an exciting opportunity in an ambitious organisation that is embracing the opportunity to operate differently, leading the organisation through a digital and technology evolution. We are keen to speak to those who not only share our ambition but can deliver it.
