We have several research specialities, and the Infectious Diseases/Emergency Department (ID/ED) research portfolio is looking for a Research Nurse. It is a full-time post, with a 10-month fixed-term contract and the possibility of this being extended. This role will work across St James University Hospital and Leeds General Infirmary. The post holder will contribute actively to the conduct, coordination, and delivery of the ID/ED Research Portfolio. They will work effectively and proactively with collaborative partners, adhering to agreed study pathways/processes to ensuring quality data capture and pharmacovigilance is maintained. In this varied role the focus would be on research delivery with interventional studies such as the current HIV study (FOST Switch), Staphylococcus aureus study (SNAP) and intramuscular tranexamic acid for mild traumatic head injury study (CRASH-4).In addition of being responsible for ensuring that high standards of clinical care planning, delivery, safety, and patient satisfaction are to a very high standards, compliance with Trust policy, study protocol requirements, local and national guidance and legislation is required. Main duties of the job We are looking to recruit a proactive and self-motivated registered nurse with a keen interest in research to work within Infectious Diseases/Emergency Department research team. The post holder will be expected to support both interventional and observational studies within the Infectious Diseases and Emergency Medicine departments at our SJUH and LGI sites. This is a varied role, the focus would be on research delivery of interventional studies such as our recently opened HIV study (FOST Switch), Staphylococcus aureus study (SNAP), intramuscular tranexamic acid for mild traumatic head injury study (CRASH-4), in addition to upcoming studies. The role includes screening, recruitment and follow-up of study participants, administrating study drugs,coordinating investigations as per trial protocol requirements. It involves ensuring any research undertaken safeguards the well-being of participants and is conducted within ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines for Research.The post holder will work closely with Principal Investigators and other members of the MDT to support research activity in the portfolios.
