This post is offered on a full time (10PA) basis although less than full time applications will be considered.
Whilst the role will be based primarilyat our Eye Centre at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield, we provide services atour other hospital sites; Dewsbury and District Hospital and Pontefract GeneralInfirmary. Most People do work from two sites.The department provides Secretarial support and office accommodationwith Computer and IT facilities in the Eye Centre. The department has the support ofOptometrists, Orthoptists, Specialist Nurses and Eye Clinic Liaison Officers.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the post willinclude:
Supporting the provision of General Ophthalmology with asubspecialty interest in Cornea or any other subspecialty which complements thedepartment.
Delivery of outpatient clinics and day case surgery
Urgent and Emergency Care duties including out-of-hourson-call; schedules will take due account of the provisions of working timeregulations and safe working
On-call duties are currently shared with 8 other colleagueson a rota, currently assessed as PA.
Core Supporting Professional Activities will be offeredto the successful candidate for which appropriate objectives will be agreed inaccordance with the Trust Framework* and national Terms and Conditions ofService with additional PA for extra roles like Lead for service etc
Examples may include formal teachingresponsibilities or departmental leadership roles

GMC Registration
Essential
1. Please state full GMC number

4. Medical Degree from recognised medical school
5. FRCOphth / FRCS or equivalent

6. Fellowship in Cornea
7. Academic Prizes
8. Audit or Case Presentations
9. Teaching qualification / awards
Experience

10. Wide experience in management of Cornea patients in outpatients, Lasers and theatre.
Desirable
11. Ophthalmology fellowship or equivalent experience in Cornea.
12. Specific educational interests and evidence of educational ideas or project work.
