The Role:
You will be responsible for liaising with the programme/projectdelivery teams and preparing the business for the transition to newways of working by assisting in creating and implementation of changemanagement strategies for the region in support of the redevelopmentat the port.
Your role will involve engagement withsenior management across the business and an in-depth involvement withoperational teams, leading by example and championing change.
You will need the ability to lead, support, coachand empower others to deliver in a multifaceted area of work.
Responsibilities:
Provide visibleand effective leadership, working with operational and project leadsto deliver benefits and improvement outcomes.
Support andactively work with Border Force Central region impacted by theStansted Project, to plan for and implement the required changes toachieve intended outcomes and benefits, by engaging with them toco-ordinate assessment of port level and regional readiness impacts.
Establish and maintain robust, effective and lasting workingrelationships with operational business representatives, and otherstakeholders responsible for the development and delivery of thebusiness changes required.
Build, maintain and leveragerelationships with other key stakeholders at a local, regional andnational level as a lead single point of contact, sharing knowledgeand best practice, to co-ordinate and deliver change impactsassessments, and ensuring local Border Force staff input is capturedand reflected as well as operational priorities. To act as a criticalfriend to provide challenge and direction where required.
Communicate at all levels including organising and chairingworkshops, participating in relevant events and producing/supportingcolleagues in the preparation of, high-quality written briefing andother communication materials for Ministers, Senior Civil Service,Programme Board, cross-organisation and external organisations.
Actively participate as a member of the Stansted ProgrammeManagement Team, representing the views and interests of Border Force,and provide direction and strong leadership.
Skills & Experience:
Experience of delivery ina complex and fast paced project or programme, including successfullyapplying project methodologies.
You take responsibility forand can effectively manage a team, setting the direction, whilstempowering and developing others.
You can provide strong andeffective leadership and communicate confidently orally and inwriting, giving direction whilst making balanced judgements aroundwhen to escalate.
You can build support networks quickly,proactively creating and maintain positive, professional and trustingworking relationships with a wide range of stakeholders within andoutside the organisation. You identify connections and reach out tobring people together.
You take charge of situations andpeople, can influence others and articulate your rationale to gaintheir agreement whilst welcoming and responding positively tochallenge, which you use to refine and iterate plans.
You bringa fresh perspective whatever the situation or context. You listenactively to other people’s views and appreciate there are manydifferent perspectives to consider.
You can be flexible andversatile, and you act as an advocate for change, leading by example.
You are comfortable working with ambiguity, weighing up optionsin complex scenarios with multiple variables and make effectiverecommendations and decisions based on sound judgement.
Youscan the horizon and quickly analyse information from a range ofinternal and external sources, identify potential issues / risks thatmay impact on delivery and intended outcomes and benefits, and putplans in place to mitigate these and escalate when required.
You are well organised, with experience of balancing multipleresponsibilities and can quickly reassess workloads/priorities, anddelegate appropriately when there are conflicting demands to maintainperformance and deliver.
Change or project managementqualification such as APMG Change Management; APMG Managing SuccessfulProgrammes.
