Role Overview: As a Water Quality Sampler at Southern Water, you will be pivotal in ensuring we consistently meet and exceed the regulatory standards for water quality. In this essential role, you will be required to collect water and wastewater samples and carry out on-site testing across the Southern Water supply area at water supply works, reservoirs, boreholes, rivers, wastewater treatment works and customer properties. Using your meticulous attention to detail will be critical in following all protocols to maintain our high quality standards. Additionally, you will be responsible for quickly alerting the appropriate teams to any potential water quality incidents, helping to safeguard the safety and integrity of our services. Comprehensive training will be provided, typically taking between 2 to 8 weeks to complete. Once training has been completed you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours rota which includes weekends and evenings. This is paid in addition to your annual salary. You will have the opportunity to interact directly with customers, so it's essential that you possess a strong understanding of customer-facing policies and can handle complaints with empathy and a positive attitude. As an ambassador for Southern Water, you will represent the company with professionalism and ensure that every customer interaction reflects our commitment to excellence About you: A full, clean UK driving license is required to travel to various sites and customers' homes. To ensure we provide the best customer experience, you should have previous experience in customer service. While you'll be part of a team, many of your visits will be conducted independently, so you must demonstrate the ability to work competently and reliably without supervision. Confidence and IT literacy are essential for this role. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent record keeping skills are crucial, as your detailed reporting will impact the business as a whole. The ability to work within defined methods and follow documented processes.
