We are a well-established unit with a large Stroke ward and offer coverage for Neuro outliers, making this an excellent opportunity to grow and develop within a supportive environment.
As part of the Stroke and Neuro Occupational Therapy team, you will work within a multidisciplinary team alongside the Medical Team, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Dietetics, Psychology, and Specialist Nursing, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient-centered care.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will be responsible for assessing, planning treatment, and delivering interventions for referred patients, handling a mixed caseload of individuals with stroke and neurological conditions requiring neuro-therapy.
The successful candidate will work closely with a stroke specialist multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide and facilitate appropriate holistic management, rehabilitation, and advice to patients, their families, and carers. This role will involve collaboration with multidisciplinary ward teams and discharge coordinators to identify and facilitate appropriate discharge plans from the hospital, including ongoing referrals to specialist and local services when necessary.
As an integral part of the neurology team, the post holder will be supported by a Band 7 clinician, who will provide guidance and assistance. Additionally, the post holder will be responsible for supervising junior staff, technicians, assistants, and students as appropriate. They will also be expected to participate in the development and monitoring of service standards to assist in the smooth running of day-to-day operations.

Qualifications
* Occupational Therapy degree or Diploma
* HCPC Registered
Knowledge
* Understanding of services available in the community
* Appreciation of current development in healthcare provision
* Comprehensive knowledge of equipment
* Knowledge of clinical governance
* Other relevant post-registration courses
* Member of a relevant specialist section of the British Association of Occupational Therapists
* Wheelchair prescription
Experience
* Experience as a Band 5 Occupational Therapist in a physical field in the NHS, social services or similar setting
* Experience with complex stroke patients
* Experience with neurological patients
* Experience of working with support workers

Salary: £42,939 to £50,697 a year Pro Rata Per Annum inc Outer HCAS
