We are pleased to share an opportunity for someone to join the Legal Team, as the Head of Legal Operations. This job is working from our office on King Street in the centre of Norwich and comes with Agile Working. This is up to a 9 Month Secondment opportunity, for internal applicants and a 9 Month Fixed Term Contract, for external applicants. Flexible Working will be considered. In this job role as the Head of Legal Operations, you will work alongside the Director – Legal to assist in the development of the strategy and focus for the entire Legal Team. You will be responsible for the operational management to deliver this strategy. Leading on effectively managing external solicitors across the team (including costs), including assisting in the development of a legal framework for procuring legal services. You’re responsible for and lead on the implementation of systems and processes across the team to allow the team to meet the standards required for external accreditation as necessary. Providing operational management support across the In-House Team to support the team and the business generally. You’ll be responsible for developing, collecting and reviewing measures for the team to demonstrate value for money, quality of service and to support any business cases for growth. Also leading on the improvement of the procurement of Legal Services across the team. This includes supporting the building and maintaining of relationships with external service providers including law firms, software providers and other partners, which will involve visiting them on a semi-regular basis. You’ll assist in the development, maintenance and updating of the Operational Delivery Plan, Risk Map, internal procedures and other internal Governance related documents. You’ll lead on reporting on and improving compliance across the team with external requirements (e.g. SRA Rules, Law Society guidance). Taking responsiblity for achieving and maintaining external accreditation for the team including LEXCEL to ensure best practice throughout the team. A key function you’ll undertake is being a leading and responsible figure within the team providing support to team managers in the absence of and/or to support the Director – Legal; including leading team meetings etc when required. Also assisting in the development and delivery of a reward and recognition programme within the Legal Team. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the successes and other messages the team wishes to convey are spread within the business and beyond. You’ll provide general line management support and cover for other team managers in their absence. Supporting with the preparation of and review of the annual budget for the Legal Team including attending Management Accounts review meetings. You’ll be responsible, alongside the Director - Legal, for ensuring strong relationships with internal stakeholders/partners such as Finance, HR, IT and Comms including attending regular catch up meetings. You’ll assist in the implementation and monitoring of a Business Partnering system for the Legal Team with key stakeholders. Assisting with the handling of all complaints about the Legal Team and you’ll be responsible for developing an action plan to learn from complaints. You’ll support the capturing of customer satisfaction for the whole team. Working alongside the Director - Legal Operations in the successful day to day running of the Legal Team. Also, you’ll have experience of working in an in-house legal team, with confident managerial skills. You’ll be an excellent communicator and have the ability to work to changing deadlines. Flexible Working will be considered. You will need to be qualified to degree level or equivalent (including work based experience). You must hold a full valid driving licence.
