We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team. MSCC coordinator will be responsible for operationally coordinating the care pathway for patients with impending metastatic spinal cord compression and metastatic spinal compressions, both within UHS and our regional hospitals. Working along side our clinical oncology team as well as working alone, to ensure a smooth patient pathway.

The overall purpose of this post is to work independently but under supervision and guidance of the clinical teams. Patients with suspected metastatic spinal cord compression (MSCC) present as emergencies to hospitals throughout Wessex. The coordination of their diagnostic and treatment pathway is variable and frequently suboptimal. The pathways are complex, multidisciplinary and many aspects vary widely across Wessex. Definitive treatment (Surgery or Radiotherapy) is currently delivered in 4 separate Trust (Southampton [surgery and RT], Poole [RT], HHFT [RT], Portsmouth [RT]). The post holder will enable patients within the Wessex region to progress smoothly through their care pathway ensuring that they have investigations, procedures and treatment booked in a timely manner. The post holder will also act as a point of contact for these patients.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Administrative and organisational experience.
Experience of dealing with non-routine and complex problems and progress chasing.
Knowledge of Cancer Care.
Excellent communication skills.
