Amazon Customs and Trade (ACT) Cross Border team is responsible for providing FBA Sellers a one-stop shop for international transportation service, providing end-to-end supply chain solutions for our Customers. Amazon Global Logistics is seeking a customer-centric leader, who wants to be part of this journey, and is responsible for daily compliance activities. The individual will be responsible for helping develop the operations and execution infrastructure for the compliance team. This person will work closely with various internal teams to establish processes and back-office functions. The individual will then be responsible for resource planning, goal setting, and managing key success criteria. This person will be responsible for managing performance, developing, training, and skill resources, while managing continuous improvement initiatives to reduce Customer escalations. Key Job Responsibilities
This role within Amazon Customs and Trade (ACT)’s Customs Brokerage organization works cross-functionally to mitigate regulatory risk for ACT and our customers. This role is responsible for addressing and mitigating operational risk on behalf of customers, selling partners, sales, legal partners, and the operations teams across China, Europe, and the United Kingdom.
The functions of this role include but are not limited to:
1. Mitigation and prevention of penalties;
2. Processing and assessing risk from regulatory contact agencies in the EU and UK;
3. Applying knowledge to address customs exceptions on a day-to-day basis as the lead subject matter expert within the assigned scope.
Risk Manager II will have no team and function as an individual contributor (IC). This role will manage risk by informing stakeholders of operational compliance concerns, conducting process audits, deep diving exceptions, and will be considered the single-threaded owner of resolving these issues through partner teams. Risk Manager II owns a difficult risk area, managing cross-functionally against goals, while driving team(s)/partners to meet goals.
This role will influence broader team policies and deep dive processes to spot and reduce risk. This role will work with Operations, Compliance, and Learning & Development to revise processes and desk guides as needed. This role will write business documents and show backbone when larger systemic process changes are needed.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Significant customs brokerage experience
• Proficient in global customs operating and trade compliance systems
• Experience in Customs Brokerage Compliance in the EU/UK
• Experience in Project/Program Management
• Proven track record in building new business processes
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel and Word)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s Degree
• Customs Brokerage Credentials (EU or other globally recognized geography)
• Multi-lingual (Mandarin preferred)
• Experience with SQL and other automated self-service reporting tools
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to work productively and efficiently in an independent setting
