Pinewood Parish Council, Ipswich IP8 3SL £18,385 per annum 28 hours per week Permanent Reference: 0710 Your role An exciting new opportunity has opened up to join our team of permanent staff. We’re looking for someone to take ownership of the day-to-day running of our Community Hall, organise events and entertainment and oversee the reopening and management of the Member’s Bar. This position is initially for 28 hours per week, to be paid pro-rata within the advertised salary band. You will be expected to have some flexibility so that you are able to support the day-to-day running of the Community Hall and the events held therein. In this role you will: be responsible for the line management of other Community Hall staff, including caretakers and bar staff; and ensuring rotas are planned and time sheets are completed where applicable be responsible for the maintenance of the Community and arranging with contracts when maintenance is required, i.e. PAT testing, boiler service, fire and security alarm maintenance, cleaning of the air conditioning, weekend cleaners be responsible for interacting with hirers, managing bookings and ensuring payments are taken in a timely manner be responsible for developing and managing the events schedule, including booking entertainment, marketing the events and ensuring any furniture and/or equipment arrangements are made ensure stock (e.g. bar supplies, cleaning supplies) is replenished in a reasonable time frame so there is no/minimal impact on staff productivity. You will need: to demonstrate good interpersonal skills, especially patience and empathy to be proactive and able to prioritise tasks and manage your time, whilst working as part of a team to be able to communicate effectively and with credibility to a wide variety of stakeholders to be able to manage multiple projects at once while maintaining a great attention to detail. About us Pinewood is a large parish within the Babergh District of Suffolk, located on the southwestern fringe of Ipswich. Whilst the parish is a mainly urban area of around 5000 inhabitants and 2000 homes, it also benefits from having Belstead Brook Park within the parish, a pleasant place to walk and observe the wildlife. In 2008, Pinewood Parish Community Hall was constructed to provide a venue for various community groups and activities. The parish also benefits from a Baptist Church, Doctors Surgery, Hairdressers, Convenience Store, Takeaway, a privately run Nursery, a school for Children with disability, and a Sixth Form College. There is also a large retail park within the boundary. We currently have 8 councillors serving on the Parish Council, many of whom are new to the role this year, with 3 sub-committees who focus on running the building, the car park, and human resources.
