The role
As an Assurance Director, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Your role is a site executive level role with a remit that extends across all conventional and nuclear assurance activities across the Devonport site.
Day-to-day, you’ll provide strategic leadership and champion assurance in terms of direction setting, inspiring energy and maintaining a high performing team.
* Deliver and improve, by working across the operation, the framework for assurance lines of defence adopted within the business.
* Act as the primary day to day working interface with the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) and Defence Nuclear Safety Regulator (DNSR) and Environmental Agency (EA).
* Oversee the external and internal assurance audit process and ensure correct level of engagement and remediation activities.
* Consistently ensure that Assurance function has the necessary capability and capacity to meet its strategic and operational objectives.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Assurance Director
* A strong nuclear or high hazard safety background within the Defence sector to be able to demonstrate experience at a senior management level.
* Experienced in nuclear and conventional safety systems, cultures and accountabilities.
* A thorough knowledge of UK military and/or civilian regulations governing the provision of continuing operations.
* Appreciation of European/International regulatory environment.
* Proven track record in building successful relationships with senior customers, regulators and key suppliers.
Qualifications for the Assurance Director
* Degree level of education in an engineering discipline with evidence of continued professional development.
* Chartered professional with senior experience within nuclear and defence industry.
* Health & Safety qualification preferred.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) / Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
