Thermo Fisher Scientific currently has an opportunity for a strong leader to join our team in Heysham The main responsibilities in this role will be to lead the operations Value Stream at the Heysham Site, Inbound / warehousing, Repacking and labelling of chemical products, Manufacturing/Development, FM, Shipping and Distribution. What you will do: Lead and manage the Heysham operations team to ensure maximum effectiveness, efficiency and co-ordination of all elements of product delivery. Ensure activities align with the Site Safety Management System and demonstrate full Site & Legislative Compliance with a proactive attitude. Lead, manage and develop all Team members to realize dedication and continuous improvement. To carry out PMD’s, ensuring that appropriate goals are in place. To make recommendations for succession planning, talent development and vital learning interventions to ensure the teams are fully proficient. Work closely with the Planning Manager to contribute to and ensure strategic business plans are built and driven by meeting or exceeding agreed targets. Through a presence in the workplace, coach and mentor staff to ensure products are manufactured and documentation completed in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and other regulatory agency requirements. Ensure area team goals derived from the Site goal tree are understood and communicated to all appropriate staff. Ensure that all area activities align with the Site Quality Management System by promoting and incorporating good manufacturing practices which are implemented consistently across the team. Ensuring any procedure or process changes are accurately detailed through the utilisation of the Management of Change process. Alongside the planning team, ensure demand is delivered through the effective planning of available resources. Ensure the equipment and operating environment are maintained and designed to the agreed standards to ensure high levels of Safety and Productivity. Deliver year on year improvement plans based on the business strategy requirements Align operations and manufacturing budgets to the business activities. Analyze and critique targets, and take actions or provide recommendations in order to continuously improve performance. Demonstrates and promotes the company vision of the 4 I’s: Integrity, Intensity, Innovation and involvement. Drives and takes ownership of continuous improvements through PPI Proven track record of delivering through leadership and change culture through empowerment and engagement. Lean & Change Management: Ensure all work is performed and delivered in accordance to approved and established processes and procedures and proactively look for opportunities to drive continuous improvement, influence decisions and deliver the results whilst ensuring an appropriate level of compliance. Maintain a high level of tidiness and cleanliness at all times – personal, personnel, work area and department Align strategy with action and deliver strategic projects across the operation Support the site’s business resource groups to ensure inclusivity throughout the operation Who we are looking for: Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Management Experience within an Operations, Chemical, Automotive manufacturing environment Experience of working within a QMS such ISO 9001 Achievement or planned attainment of NEBOSH Certificate. Excellent Role Model Leader Skills. Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills Sound judgment and good decision-making skills. Excellent Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. Excellent knowledge and application of Standard Working, Continuous Improvement Tools & Techniques and affecting legislation.
