Cherry Ward has a specialty of Care of the Elderly. Patients are treated for a wide range of acute conditions, and as healthcare professionals, we are at the forefront of providing the care, dignity, and support people deserve. We are looking for committed and dynamic nurses with excellent communication skills, and above all a real desire and passion to work with older people in the acute setting.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in the specialism of elderly medicine, as well as gain experience in caring for patients who have acute medical illnesses, within a friendly and well-established multi-disciplinary team that is proud of the high standards of care that we are able to provide to all our patients. Newly qualified staff nurses and experienced staff nurses from non-acute backgrounds are welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
1. Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures.
2. Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
3. Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept.
4. Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information.
5. Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient.
6. Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct.
7. Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands.
8. Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures.
9. Education and Training.
