Job summary Chelmer Village Surgery is expanding our reception/administrative team and is looking to recruit an experienced part-time receptionist to join us, to provide a high standard of patient service and support our clinical team. The role is offered on a part time, temporary basis initially with the potential for the position to become permanent. The contracted hours and working pattern are to be agreed and confirmed in discussion with the candidate. The receptionist plays a pivotal role in the experience of patients at our practice, helping them to access the right services and dealing with their queries face-to-face, online and by telephone. General practice is a challenging environment that requires a calm and caring approach with the ability to work under pressure. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated team player who has customer service/patient experience and offers excellent communication skills. Main duties of the job Greeting and directing all patients. Making appointments. Answering queries and complaints from patients and outside agencies, signposting to the appropriate staff member as appropriate. Accepting, issuing and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc. Advising patients of practice procedures. Registering new patients. Accurately maintaining patient database and records, photocopying, filing and scanning. About us Our team consists of 2 GP partners supported by a salaried GP. We have a paramedic, 2 practice nurses and an HCA. We also have a variety of support staff from our PCN consisting of social prescribers and pharmacists, soon to be joined by a physician associate and a health and wellbeing coach. The clinical staff are supported by our reception team/secretary/administration clerk and practice manager. We are a SystmOne practice and hold regular clinical meetings, staff meetings and MDT meetings involving our community services.
