Contract: Permanent, Full-Time with consideration given to suitable candidates wishing to work part-time
Location: Working remotely with travel to Market Harborough and across the UK
Salary: c.45,000 per annum (FTE) depending on the experience of the appointed candidate
Hours:- Full-time office hours are 35 hours per week 09:00-17:00, Monday to Friday, however, some flexibility is required from the post holder to fulfil the responsibilities of the role. This is likely to be a full-time appointment, though consideration will be given to suitably qualified applicants wishing to work part-time. Pension Scheme: The post includes generous pension arrangements. Pension scheme includes 14.1% employer contribution, 5% of which can be taken as additional salary. Employee contributions default to 7% but this can be flexed.
Holiday: 30 days a year, plus public bank holidays.
Bonus Scheme: Bonus scheme is currently up to £1500 each August, entry is based on the successful completion of a full academic year (September – August).
HMC – The Heads’ Conference – is a professional association providing a global community for Heads embedded in an association for many of the world’s leading independent schools.
This is an exciting new post designed to enhance the capacity of HMC’s Education Team and further HMC’s ability to influence, innovate, and respond to qualifications and assessment matters on a national level and with consideration to developments internationally.
The appointed candidate will support HMC members by providing guidance and administrative assistance to HMC committees, working groups and networks and working in support of Professional Development activity. You will be an integral part of the HMC team and will help take forward the organisation’s internal and public agenda.
The main purpose of the role is to provide specialist support and guidance on curriculum, qualifications (including international), assessment and innovative project work. Working closely with the Director of Education and the Chairs of HMC committees, working groups and networks, the post-holder will support and contribute to HMC’s on-going work, in particular in the areas of assessment, innovation, and engagement with education policy development at a national and global level.
The post-holder will work collaboratively with the wider HMC team, including the Directors of Member and International Member services, and Communications. The role will develop over time and will respond to some extent to the individual interests and capabilities of the appointed candidate.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Acting as a source of information and guidance on curriculum matters, qualifications and assessment, scoping and implementing innovative projects designed to enhance the education experience for all pupils.
* Monitoring developments globally across qualifications and assessment matters, drawing on media coverage, published reports and cross-association meetings. Ensuring members of relevant working groups, committees and the HMC networks are informed and connected, working across HMC structures as required.
* In liaison with the Director of Education, establishing/maintaining strong relationships in schools across HMC, including International division, and their partner schools, with senior staff at other Heads’ Associations, and with external education organisations including Awarding Body Organisations.
* Acting as secretary to selected HMC Committees and Working Groups, ensuring that meetings are supported with agendas, minutes and an actions list, being proactive in following up actions.
* Providing updates as appropriate across HMC’s Senior Leadership Team networks. Facilitating webinars as required.
* Commissioning, developing, leading and analysing surveys and research as well as providing updates to members and senior colleagues across the association.
* Supporting HMC Professional Development events, including the HMC main conference, proposing relevant topics and themes and supporting facilitated sessions in related areas.
* Leading and supporting other aspects of HMC activity as required.
Experience of teaching in senior schools and knowledge of HMC schools is not essential but would be an advantage.
The right candidate must have:
* Detailed knowledge and experience in relation to secondary school public examinations and assessment (including international and vocational qualifications), experience of working in or with secondary schools and providing guidance to others
* An interest in and enthusiasm for the work of schools and their pupils
* A high degree of personal organisation and efficiency
* Confident user of IT including AI, digital systems and software
* Proven high level analytical and problem-solving skills
* Experience of delivering training within a multidisciplinary environment and a successful track record of managing projects are desirable
* Excellent academic or professional qualifications
* Strong commitment to the values and ethos of HMC
