Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Haematology and Oncology
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated paediatrician (ST6 or above) with an interest in Paediatric Haematology and Oncology diseases to join Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Children's Hospital, as a Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Fellow for a period of 12 months commencing September 2025. This post would be suitable for a trainee requesting an Out of Programme Pause from training who would like to train in the care of children and young people with haematological or oncological conditions. They will gain experience and develop clinical skills in paediatric haematological and oncological conditions that could contribute to SPIN competencies.

Main duties of the job
The Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Fellow's role will include:
1. Providing the day-to-day care of the paediatric and young adult haematology and oncology inpatients, supported by consultants, trainee doctors, advanced clinical practitioners, and a Trust grade doctor.
2. Seeing patients attending acutely to the day unit, supported by advanced clinical practitioners and trainee doctors.
3. Participating in clinics and day care services, supported by consultants and two other specialty doctors.
4. Participating in multi-professional paediatric haematology and oncology clinical governance programmes.
5. Participating in the Children's Hospital Resident doctor on call rota at HST level, which will involve looking after general paediatric and/or paediatric specialty patients.
This post is for a 12-month period from September 2025.
The role suits trainees who are motivated to learn about all aspects of caring for children and young people with haematological and oncological conditions and wish to apply for (or to complete if already commenced) the RCPCH Special Interest Module in this area. This post will be clinical with the haematology and oncology team during daytime working with full on-call commitment to general paediatrics or paediatric specialties.

Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification. Successful completion of MRCPCH by time of interview.
Experience

* Experience in the care of children and young people living with haematological and oncological conditions.

Eligibility, Fitness to practice, and Language Skills
* Be eligible for full registration with, and hold a current licence to practise from, the GMC at intended start date.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
* Advanced Paediatric Life Support Certificate.
