Job Description:
Are you a Support Worker looking to help us make a difference in young lives?
We are looking for a Youth Support Worker to join our passionate and supportive team in Malvern on a permanent basis. In this role, you will be responsible for providing guidance and support to achieve positive outcomes for young people aged 16–25, including Care Leavers.
You will provide a flexible, preventative, and practical support service to promote independence and build resilience while delivering the accredited life skills programme. Regular contact with customers exhibiting a range of emotional and challenging behaviours will be part of your role, working both individually and in groups to prevent homelessness, address personal support needs, and provide access to training, education, or employment.
Other duties include managing all communal areas of Platform Housing’s accommodation provided for young people through regular building management inspections, monitoring health and safety, repairs, and testing equipment. You will monitor and manage customer tenancies, identifying any issues that may lead to tenancy or license breaches, such as rent arrears, ensuring early and effective intervention.
This is a part-time role working 25.75 hours per week. You will need to be flexible to work a variety of shift patterns across weekdays, weekends, and bank holidays. Shifts will typically fall between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm or 5 pm to 12 am. You will also be required for approximately 7 sleep-ins per month, for which you will receive a £55 per sleep-in payment on top of your salary.
Some things we need from you:
* Experience working closely with customers to tackle complex issues.
* The ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
* Resilience and the ability to handle challenging behaviours and conversations.
* Ability to work independently and be an effective decision-maker due to some lone working.
* An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
Some of our great benefits include:
* Up to 28 days annual leave with the opportunity to buy and sell leave.
* Family-friendly policies.
* Medicash membership for all employees, which includes access to an employee assistance programme, discounted gym membership, and exclusive discounts.
* Non-contributory health & wellbeing plans with cashback for dental, optical, physio, and complementary therapies.
* Pension contribution scheme with employer contributions of up to 12% (inclusive of life assurance and dependent on employee contributions).
* Learning and Development opportunities.
* Salary sacrifice electric vehicle scheme.
* Employee reward and recognition scheme with a wellbeing hub and discounts from a wide range of retailers.
Interviews are scheduled to take place in person at The Foyer in Malvern on 7th and 8th April.
*Please note that the contractual job title for this role is Youth Development Coach.*
