Purpose of Role
We are recruiting for a Health & Safety Manager to lead and implement HSE culture changes on our Defence contract covering the South of England.
Job Description
You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant Health & Safety regulation(s) and in particular, those health & safety requirements stipulated (within the contract) by the client and any such health and safety related requirements specific to Sector/Project/Contract and activity. The contract scope includes the delivery of building maintenance and lifecycle improvement projects spanning across over 6000 buildings on over 90 MOD sites. You will ensure that the management standards are effectively implemented across the contract and where necessary, local (Tier 3) Standards are implemented to cover various stakeholder specific requirements.
Responsibilities
1. Reporting to Head of HSEQ and maintaining a dotted reporting line into the Project Director.
2. Supporting the management in HSE policy and guidelines across the contract.
3. Directly manage a team of HSEQ Advisors in their day to day activity - providing HSE leadership, training and operational support.
4. Governance of legal compliance and delivering the internal audit programme.
5. Assisting in all aspects of incident investigation.
6. Driving a consistent approach to HSEQ and collaborating with Operations Performance teams and central functions.
Essential Qualifications/Skills
1. Proven Health & Safety expertise.
2. Proven team leadership experience and sound collaborator.
3. Background in construction or facilities management.
4. Background in highly regulated sectors.
5. Proven knowledge of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality processes and legislation.
6. NEBOSH or Level 6 equivalent.
