Fixed term: one year with potential to renew for second year
This role would suit someone completing their FY2 and wanting to go ontoa paid FY3 to broaden their experience and help with deciding best route youwould like your career to take. The role will give someone some greatexperience within teaching too as well as potential to be fully supported toundertake a funded in Medical Education. The charity will alsohelp and support you in your application to move into your core training.
You will work with some industry experts within psychiatry as well asteaching who are passionate about passing on their knowledge and developingothers, whilst working in the newly refurbished academic centre based in over150 acres of beautiful woodlands consisting of a gym, swimming pool, café,garden centre as well as other great facilities all open and free to access forstaff.

Our services in Northampton, set in 150 plus acres ofwoodland greenery are spread across 5 Divisions Medium Secure, Low Secure andSpecialist Rehabilitation, Learning Disability and Autism, Neuropsychiatry andCAMHS. We have a number of unique specialist national services including ourDeaf Forensic Service, Huntingtons Service, Secure Brain Injury Service, OlderAdults Secure Services, Blended Womens Service (one of 3 National Pilots) anda specialist inpatient DBT service so a great place to gain experience in psychiatry.

The Role and Person
These unique posts provide rich opportunities to developinterests and expertise in medical education whilst broadening clinicalexperience in a specialist, mental health setting.
In the coming year, the Academic Department will be supporting more than500 student placements, across medicine, nursing, health and social care. Therewill be considerable opportunities for clinical teaching and educationalactivity.
Four sessions are protected for educational activity where you will getinvolved in facilitating the education experience of third year students fromthe University of Buckingham which involves preparing and teaching educationalworkshops, assessing students case presentations and offering pastoral supportto students. Also opportunities for teaching Cambridge Medical students.
Six sessions for clinical activity (with regular, consistent supervisionfor both elements) as a Ward Doctor. Your experience here will be similar to a coretrainee and will help you gain some valuable experience working within thedifferent wards which will help you in your future career.
You will be actively involved in supporting medical student placements.One day per week will focus on clinical teaching with students on the wards.The second day will be focused on facilitating small group workshop typesessions in the Academic Department. Study leave will be available forcontact days for the course.

Pleasenote a full GMC Registration will be needed for this role as will evidence ofcompletion of Foundation Year 2 (FY2) training which includes some Psychiatryrotation. If completed Foundation Year 1 (FY1) training then a further 12months experience would be needed working in a role with psychiatry.
