The Role
To assume technical responsibility for cell facility and provide an appropriate service for MB Aerospace production.
The main full-time shift in which we run at MB Aerospace Newton Abbot are:
* 7:30 am till 4:00 pm Monday to Thursday, 7:30 am till 12:30 pm Friday (for 4 weeks)
* 12:30 pm till 9:00 pm Monday to Thursday, 12:30 pm - 5:30 pm Friday (for 4 weeks) - shift premium
* 9:00 pm - 7:00 am Monday to Wednesday, 9:00 pm – 6:00 am Thursday (for 4 weeks) - shift premium
Key Responsibilities
* Inspect components for FAIRs, measuring the component from first principles using standard inspection equipment and comparing the component with the original customer drawings and detailed specifications.
* Programme CMM using proprietary software. Operate CMM manually to shop floor requirements and run established machines.
* Maintain standard inspection equipment – clocks, Dot markers, etc.
* Calibrate new electronic gauges in conjunction with the Quality Department.
* Commission gauges in conjunction with the method development department.
* Continuous Improvement: Lead major process reviews in production cells and report back to continuous improvement teams.
* Lead new projects in conjunction with the Engineering Department.
* Tool prove new jobs and carry out functions in line with Tool prover Job Description (Grade C Exp).
* Carry out duties compatible with this job and the employee’s individual skills as required by management.
* Ensuring materials are correct and assigned machines are set and running efficiently.
* Maintaining machine up-time.
* Minimising cost of scrap from poor machining.
* Making adjustments to, replacing or modifying tools or fixtures with Production Engineering.
* Rectifying machine problems with Maintenance.
Job Requirements
* NVQ3 - Tool proving or BTEC National or C&G.
* NVQ2 Engineering Machine Operation.
* 4 years related machining experience, plus conventional machining experience.
* Full component process knowledge, including an appreciation of the effect on process operations.
* An understanding of FAIRs & FAIR requirements.
* Understanding H&S policy.
* Coaching skills to guide & support Tool provers and others.
* Communication with other departments.
* Ability to resolve manufacturing problems.
* Ability to read engineering drawings.
