Job Summary
The role of Data Architect is to expand our customers' use of Geospatial data as a strategic enabler of the IQGeo solution. The Data Architect will achieve this by working directly with the Data Services team and strategic partners (3rd parties) to analyse customer data and models, identify gaps within the data and model, create solutions to enrich and/or modify the data or model, and use tooling to transform and/or modify the data in order to create a rich, robust, accurate, and valuable architecture that improves the capabilities of the IQGeo Geospatial Network Manager product. This individual will act as the primary advocate of data modelling methodologies and data collection practices when interacting with our clients post-sale, but may also be leveraged as a presales resource for technology-specific discussions.
As an integral department within the IQGeo Customer Services Organization, the successful candidate will be key in supporting the entire professional services delivery team and is integral to delivering excellence with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Data Technicians, Solution Architects, and Delivery Consultants.
Key responsibilities include the following:
Strategy & Planning
* Work with the client to understand and document the data generated by their customer interaction systems and customer life-cycle events.
* Complete data assessments on client’s data to audit for key data elements needed to support the data model designs.
* Develop GIS data models by transforming the client’s data into IQGeo’s data structure by leveraging Python, Perl, Safe FME, and IQGeo's proprietary transformation tools.
* Setup the automated data ingestion process to collect the client’s data and trigger the developed transformations.
* Document the data architecture and model configuration in order to maintain a current and accurate view of the client’s data models within the IQGeo product.
* Work with the client to assess both the technical attributes as well as the analytical value of their data (data assessment).
* Work with the client to establish processes for governing the identification, collection, and use of their data; take steps to assure data accuracy and validity.
* Ensure that data strategies and client model specifications meet proper PII, PCI, PI, FERC, and/or CPNI security standards as set forth by the project charter.
Acquisition & Deployment
* Ensure the success of new data model deployments within IQGeo product(s) for our clients as the key member of a deployment team.
* Liaise with client stakeholders to select and/or prioritize the appropriate data sources based on data assessments and business goals set forth by the client.
* Ensure the data collection/transfer design is well documented and complies with current IQGeo standards.
* Design GIS data models with specific emphasis on providing insights to the business goals set forth by the client.
* Collaborate with CSO project managers and tech leads for all projects involving new enterprise data sources.
* Utilize industry standard tools creating repeatable, scalable, fault-tolerant ETL processes leveraging automation-at-scale.
Essential Skills:
* Hands-on experience with data architecting, data mining, large-scale data modelling, and business requirements gathering/analysis.
* Hands-on experience working with structured or unstructured data doing data manipulation or data mining.
* Hands-on experience working with high-level programming languages and shell scripting. Strong Python and Perl experience is a must.
* Strong understanding of relational data structures, theories, principles, and practices.
* Experience working with, or around, network design solutions (CAD and/or GIS) such as Smallworld, ESRI, 3GIS, Bentley, Crescent Link, Hexagon, CadTel, Syncronoss, SSP, etc.
* Experience with business requirements analysis, entity relationship planning, database design, reporting structures, and so on.
* Familiar with object-oriented programming concepts (e.g., using Java, JavaScript, etc.).
* Experience using industry standard Extract Transform and Load (ETL) applications; experience using SAFE FME is a plus.
* Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
* Exposure to analytic and reporting applications is a plus.

Education and Experience:
* College diploma or university degree in an information technology discipline such as computer science, information systems, engineering; or hybrid degree in business and technology (E&M, MBA, etc.).
* Relevant technical field experience will override the lack of an IT-related degree.
Physical Requirements:
* Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
