To provide a point of contact for patients and act as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors, and other health care professionals. To supervise, oversee, and coordinate the reception staff to provide an efficient and effective service to patients, doctors, and staff.
Main duties of the job
1. Supervise, coordinate, and guide the reception team. Team meetings and minute taking.
2. Assisting reception manager with QOF targets and audits.
3. Coordination of appointment system.
4. Registrations / online Services and email management.
5. Start and end of day procedures / General Housekeeping / responsible for SOI and DNR procedures and cervical screening process.
6. Any other delegated duties considered appropriate to the post.
About us
Pennygate Medical Centre is a large GP Practice based in Hindley, Wigan. We currently provide GP services to nearly 19,000 patients. We are an extremely large team which includes 10 GP Partners, 6 salaried GPs, 3 ANPs, 5 Nurses, and 3 Health Care Assistants. We have a strong and supportive management team and a large admin team comprising of reception team, coding team, secretarial team, and prescribing team. The surgery also provides a base for a wide range of community care teams and is a part of the Hindley Primary Care Network.
Job responsibilities
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST
To support the reception manager and reception team with daily duties. Support training and development on a regular basis with the team. Undertake meetings and take minutes for the reception manager. Monitor staff workload and performance.
1. Supervise, coordinate, and guide the reception team.
2. Assisting reception manager with QOF targets.
3. Coordination of appointment system.
4. Coordination of medical records.
5. Start and end of day procedures.
6. Contact patient by telephone regarding pathology results.
7. Complete registrations both paper and online.
8. Follow process and lead on sending statement of Intent and DNRs.
9. Manage Cervical Screening results.
10. Manage generic email.
11. General audits as needed.
12. Any other delegated duties considered appropriate to the post.
Person Specification
Experience
* 18 months medical receptionist experience.
* Supervisory / Team leader experience.
Qualifications
* GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths.
* ECDL or equivalent.
* NVQ level 3.
